Violet "V" is a fighter. She was found by Lucas beaten, near death and he saw the fighter inside her. Lucas made the decision to bring her over to Neverdark, as an Angel. Lucas trained her, mentored, and fell in love with her.
Then one day his brothers came for him. His brothers are 3 of the horseman for the apocalypse. They need their 4th and Lucas is it, he is Death.
3 years later "V" is given the orders to kill him. She begged for this assignment. She thinks she's the only one that can bring him down. Will Violets love for Lucas prevent her from killing Death?
Wow! I really liked this story. Talk about star crossed lovers. First the action and fight scenes are great. You are really in the fight yourself. The chemistry between Violet and Lucas is off the charts. The story is told from alternating POV's, so you get in their heads. You really feel for these characters and their ultimate dilemma. I think the secondary characters helped Both Violet and Lucas find the humanity they so desperately need. The story flowed well and the character development for the most part was great. I wish we knew more on why Lucas was the 4th. I am still a little unsure if the brothers (War, Conquest, and Famine) are literally or metaphorically his brothers. Other than that I think the story was well written and look forward to the next installment of the story "Torn Wings" coming in 2014.
Violet watched me quietly, her eyes flickering between hate and love. It was then I knew she'd come here to kill me.
"I don't want to kill you, not anymore. I wasn't myself," he said, coming to face me. " I want to be with you. I want to hold you and touch you and-" He exhaled. "I. Want. You."
